This project involved the creation of a sophisticated, white-label insurance platform offered as a Software as a Service (SaaS) solution. The platform digitally facilitates the end-to-end sales and administration of biometric insurance products including term life, disability, critical illness, and whole-of-life benefits. The Challenge
Starting from scratch, the initial challenge was to rapidly deliver a highly scalable, configurable platform capable of supporting comprehensive insurance processes across diverse markets. Another critical challenge was the requirement to significantly accelerate partner onboarding and product launches compared to existing industry standards, transforming what typically takes months or years into mere weeks.
The Solution
As Product Owner and Technology Lead, I oversaw the development of the platform, leading a small initial team of five members and scaling it to over 100 specialists within one year. We developed an innovative, patented approach centered on high configurability, supporting core insurance processes such as quotation generation, underwriting assessments, policy issuance, ongoing policy administration, and claims management. Leveraging API-first integration and customizable white-label frontends, we ensured effortless integration with partner channels. Additionally, we established efficient and agile product management methodologies, including continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD), to support rapid product enhancements and market responsiveness.
The Results
The platform achieved its first successful go-live with active public sales in less than a year, a significant achievement given the scope and complexity. It was subsequently expanded into multiple international markets including the UK, Germany, Ireland, and Switzerland.
